Gypsy-Rose Blanchard (born 27 July 1991) is an American public figure, author, and media personality who gained national attention following her involvement in the 2015 murder of her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard, a case tied to years of abuse related to Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSBP). Gypsy was initially charged with first-degree murder, but she later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to ten years in prison. Her then boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 25 years for armed criminal action. Gypsy-Rose was released on parole in December 2023 after serving over eight years in prison, and her story has since remained a major topic in pop culture and media. Following her release, she quickly built a massive social media presence, sharing her life, advocacy, and personal journey with millions of followers. This included the Lifetime show Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, where she showcased her daily life with ex-husband Ryan Anderson. Since serving her sentence, Blanchard has transitioned into public speaking, content creation, and media appearances, using her platform to raise awareness and tell her story. Gypsy is a mother to daughter Aurora Raina Urker, who she shared with her late partner Ken Urker.
